Responsible use

This lesson plan introduces learners (ages 6 to 12) to the topic of Responsible Use by investigating the question: Can AI do harm? The lesson starts with a brief introductory video, followed by a learning activity. During this activity, students are asked to look for examples of harmful AI themselves. Moreover, they will learn how Machine Learning works and how Machine Learning can cause biased results, leading to unequal treatment. During the challenge, students will make their own Machine Learning algorithm and see for themselves how a model can become biased quite easily. The lesson plan comes with a ready-to-use PowerPoint and a tutor handbook that includes a complete script for the PowerPoint presentation. To participate in this class, students need a laptop and an internet connection. In total, the lesson plan will take 120 minutes to finish.
